The increasing demand and limited supply have led to the creation of numerous fake websites and online pharmacies. Many individuals have reported losing substantial amounts of money after submitting their payment or contact information on these websites.
According to an article published by McAfee, “In the first four months of 2024, malicious phishing attempts centered around Ozempic, Wegovy, and Semaglutide increased 183% compared to October through December 2023.”
Consumers are being cautioned by security and medical experts to stay away from these websites and seek information from reputable sources instead. When buying medications online, remember these important points.
If the price seems too good to be true, it likely is. Exercise caution when encountering unusually low-priced medication.
Ensure that the company or doctor holds a valid license. Proper packaging and detailed labeling should accompany authentic Ozempic and other medication. You can verify if the medication matches with the manufacturer.
It’s advisable to not use money transfer apps. Scammers often use apps such as Venmo, Zelle, or Paypal on these websites because it is difficult to get the money back. Additionally, refrain from entering payment details on suspicious websites.
Watch out for sudden shipping fees. If the company suddenly requests additional funds for shipping or mentions a shipping problem, it’s probably a scam. Don’t continue with the purchase.
It is important to be cautious when buying medication, ensuring that it is from reliable distributors, and to consult your doctor before starting any new medication. and safe.
